On 3 June  the basement floor of the State Theatre Centre was poured, following the removal of more than 10,000m³ soil from the site over the past six months. 

The basement floor slab - which is 600mm thick and secured to the ground by 86 tension piles that extend 10 metres into the ground - will become the floor of the Studio Underground and Rehearsal Room 1.

Approximately 130 trucks delivered over 1,000m³ of concrete to the site for the continuous pour.

Construction of an isolated floor, to create acoustic separation between the Studio Underground and external vibrations, was completed in August.
