Format Traditional Proscenium theatre
Seating capacity 575 seats comprising 170 circle and 405 stalls
(including 39 removable on the orchestra pit / forestage lift)
Sight lines All rows are curved to face the stage and each row is elevated above the one in front
Disabled seating 22 removable seats in the stalls, three in the circle (not including the 39 on the orchestra pit)
Proscenium opening 12 metres wide x 9 metres high
Fitted with house border and false proscenium to close down the opening
Stage 25 metres wide wall to wall x 18 metres deep (from rear wall to limit of 1.7m deep fixed forestage)
Side stage – dock 100m² leads directly to loading bay and to stage – latter via 6 metre x 6 metre doors
Stage floor Sprung timber with sacrificial surface, downstage central area has demountable panels
Orchestra pit / forestage Serapid type, stops at stage +200mm, stage level, pit, stalls, understage
Flying system Powered flying system
58 lines, six forestage and 10 backstage hoists
Flying dimensions Grid height 20 metres, distance proscenium wall to last line 13.5 metres, hoist positions over the forestage
Foyer Single foyer at front stalls level with two bars, toilets, lifts and access to Rehearsal Room 2

Dimmers Dimmer-per-outlet system with 408 x 2.5kW and 5kW dimmers
Lighting fixtures New state-of-the-art conventional and moving light fixtures
Lighting rigging on stage 24 wired bars working to cable reelers
Performance Sound New state-of-the-art digital mixing reinforcement including replay systems
Technical Access FOH lighting positions all have catwalk access, Heath Ledger Theatre will be supplied with one Haulotte Star 10 and one Elevating Work Platform
Stage Management Audio and video relay, paging, working light control and intercoms, services connection to Studio Underground and Rehearsal Rooms
Outside Broadcast Communications services and cable tray facilities to OB location
